The new Chair of the Citizens Information Board (CIB), Sylda Langford presented 34 FETAC Certificates to adult learners in CIB head office, George's Quay House, Dublin last week. The Information Providers completed the Citizen Information Board Programme which consists of two modules "Information, Advice and Advocacy Practice" and "Social and Civil Information". These modules are accredited by FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) at level 6. The Information Providers currently work in Citizens Information Services, Citizens Information Phone Service and community and voluntary organisations throughout the country.
Speaking at the ceremony Sylda Langford said: "Accreditation serves two important functions by promoting quality assurance for information, advice and advocacy services delivered by Citizens Information Services, Citizens Information Phone Service and community and voluntary organisations and gives official recognition to the competencies of Information Providers."
The awards ceremony was chaired by Tony McQuinn, Chief Executive and was attended by supervisors, trainers, colleagues, family and friends of the award recipients. The recipients came from counties: Cavan, Dublin, Limerick, Louth, Meath, Offaly and Wicklow.
