Housing, Accommodation and the Private Residential Tenancies Board

Level 2/3
Courses at Level 2 are for Information Providers who have completed the Information Providers Programme (IPP) and have a good understanding of the course topic or have at least one year's experience of giving information to the public.

Courses at Level 3 are for experienced Information Providers who have a good understanding of the course topic and wish to acquire more advanced knowledge on the topic.

Aim    
This training is to provide an overview on Housing, Accommodation and the Private Residential Tenancies Board.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants should be able to:-

  • explain the various housing options available in Ireland;
  • advise clients on rights and responsibilities in the Private Rented Sector
  • outline the role and function of the Private Residential Tenancies Board
  • perform appropriate referrals to the Private Residential Tenancies Board
  • identify those who qualify for Mortgage Interest Supplement, Rent Supplement and the application procedure including assessable and non-assessable income plus the Habitual Residence Condition.
  • advise clients with common queries relating to social housing provision, RAS, Long Term leasing, Provision by Voluntary Bodies and Local Authority housing and on Grants:-Housing Aid for Older Persons, Mobility Grant, Disabled Persons Grant.
